Latest News from Dwarfs from Flores: The Story of Homo Floresiensis

Looking back, exactly 15 years ago, archeologists revealed the story of Hobbit on Flores. Namely the ancient human skeleton-sized kate named Homo Floresiensis-or often nicknamed Mama Flo because it comes from Flores and female sex. The story is featured on the main page of the inaugural edition of National Geographic Indonesia magazine in April 2005.

The edition is a dual commotion according to Mahandis Yoanata Thamrin as Managing Editor of National Geographic Indonesia.

"This magazine shocked Indonesia to its publisher at that time. It was caused by the findings of universal scientists. Until now there must have been a lot of dynamics. We also asked whether the arrival of modern humans caused the extinction of this Hobbit man?" he said.

Editorial Talk 11 titled The Latest News from the Words of Man from Flores presented two of Indonesia's top archaeologists, who in 2014 were included in influential scientists according to Reuters.

The two archaeologists are Jatmiko, Principal Researcher at the Arkenas Research Center and Thomas Sutikna, Researchers at the Center of Excellence for the Australian Biodiversity and Heritage University of Wollonggong.

Since 1965, the Liang Bua site, where Mama Flo was found there have been traces of research begun by Father Verhoeven, a seminarian who lives in central Flores.

At first he heard there was a cave that was used as a school in 1946-1949. Out of curiosity, he reviewed in 1950. Then he saw around the surface there was a stone pottery used by children

Then Verhoeven returned again in 1965 to try an excavation trial. he got a human skeleton that was buried intact. there he saw a jug, a bronze ax, a bead, there were seven individuals. And his people were from homo sapiens whose lives were in the early part of the century, or paleometallic to neolotic.

Then in 1978, 1981, until 1989 research was taken over by the National Archaeological Research Center....
